If the user does not consent to the use of cookies, it is not possible to transfer the corresponding data. If the user opts out on the Jimdo cookie banner, no other cookies will be created than those technically required to operate your online shop.
Since 2009, the data protection regulations of the EU have stipulated that visitors to a website must be asked for their consent before the first cookies can be created. In this way, users should have the option of preventing the creation and use of cookies. One problem was the implementation of this cookie consent in practice. This often happened at the expense of website visitors in the form of an opt-out: the cookies were basically created, while users can only decide against them. For users, the opt-in procedure makes more sense in terms of data protection: Cookies are generally not created and may only be used if the user opts for them. Before consent is given, only technically essential cookies are legal. After consent, the use of tracking and analysis cookies and comparable files is also permitted.
At the latest since the ECJ ruling, the explicit consent of the visitor must be available for all cookies that go beyond the pure technical operation of the site. The legislator stipulates that the first cookie may only be created once consent has been given. The only exceptions to this are cookies that are necessary for operation. Tracking and analysis cookies require consent. As the operator of the website, you must give your visitors the opportunity to object to the cookies, otherwise you will be legally vulnerable.
Cookie Consent refers to the consent of your customers and potential customers to the installation of cookies when visiting the website. Consent is requested via special software that displays a pop-up in the form of a Jimdo cookie notice. The Jimdo cookie banner appears as soon as one of your visitors reaches the website. Even before a visitor sees the actual content, he comes across the Jimdo Cookie Banner. Visitors can use this to give or deny their consent. You can also decide to what extent cookies may be created and processed. This is an opt-in procedure, which is mandatory against the background of the GDPR and the ECJ ruling.
