Google postpones abolition of third-party cookies to 2025

Google Update on Third Party Cookies for 2025.

Google’s latest update to eliminate third-party cookies in its Chrome browser has now been extended until 2025. This is the third time that Google has delayed the elimination of third-party cookies.

Are you unsure about the issue of eliminating third-party cookies? Then we recommend that you click on the following link to learn more about the reasons and the importance for users, marketers and advertisers: https://www.consentmanager.net/knowledge/elimination-of-third-party-cookies/

You can also watch our webinar (in English) about third-party cookies at the following link:https://www.consentmanager.net/knowledge/webinar-removal-third-party-cookies/

This delay, announced on Tuesday , is largely the result of a complex feedback chain involving various stakeholders, including the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), industry representatives and developers. The extension also gives the CMA time to carefully review the results of industry tests, which are due by the end of June.

However, for marketers and advertisers, this longer timeline could create some uncertainty . Adapting to the delayed elimination of third-party cookies means finding and implementing alternative data collection strategies that respect user privacy. By switching to more robust methods that do not rely on third-party cookies, such as contextual targeting, first-party tracking or first-party ad serving, marketers or advertisers can gain a competitive advantage and better comply with new data protection regulations.

Existing consentmanager users can adjust their CMP settings and prepare for the abolition by following these instructions:https://www.consentmanager.net/knowledge/third-party-cookies-and-cmp-consent-scope/
